I'll
admit it. I am one of the many east coast transplants
living in the Pacific Northwest. I moved to
Spokane, and eventually Seattle, in 1988 after graduating
from Rutgers University. Although they say, "You
can take the girl out of New Jersey, but you can't take
the Jersey out of the girl" (and that is definitely
true!), I consider myself a Seattle Girl now! I have
been here for 17 years, living everywhere from Greenlake
to Capitol Hill to Rainier Beach. My partner of seven
years, Chavi Hohm, and I currently live in Seward Park
in a swank 1960s modern home.
I
started my career fundraising door-to-door for a consumer
advocacy group, never realizing how knocking on every
door, in every neighborhood in King County might prepare
me for my future career as an agent. I moved from that to working on initiative and political campaigns for a few years before landing at Northwest AIDS Foundation (now Lifelong AIDS Alliance).
There I spent six years traveling all over the state
to places like Wenatchee, Walla Walla, Spokane and Tacoma
teaching folks how to lobby and be active within their
communities on HIV/AIDS issues.
I
had never before thought about becoming a realtor but
when I made the decision to leave the Foundation, it
was the first thing that came to mind. I was
excited to try something totally different than working
in the non-profit arena but where I could still use
my great lobbying, organizing and people skills. Then
I thought, "What better place to put those skills
to work than real estate." I left the Foundation
in 1999, started my new career as Seattle's Real Estate
Diva and never looked back. I am proud to be able to
say that I've had a great career thus far, am in the
top of tier of my profession and am having the time
of my life!
Now
